Faith attended the University of North Texas where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Substance Use Disorder. Faith went on to complete her Master of Science in Counseling and Development at Texas Woman’s University. Faith has clinical experience in both individual and group therapy working with the homeless population at The Samaritan Inn as well as crisis counseling at Denton County Friends of the Family.
Faith takes a collaborative approach, believing that the client is the architect of their life. Safety, trust, and authenticity from both the client and the therapist are what creates the therapeutic alliance. Faith believes that meeting every client where they are in their personal journey is important, and treats every client as an individual, appreciating and valuing their unique life experiences.
Faith incorporates mindfulness-based strategies, when appropriate, to help clients cope with somatic trauma responses that may be present. Additional interventions that may be utilized include helping identify negative thinking patterns. Patterns of behavior that no longer suit clients present life, by exploration of past experiences. Every clients journey towards healing is different, therefore Faith works in collaboration with clients to implement treatment strategies that align with their individual goals.
Faith is skilled in working with clients who have histories of trauma, relationship difficulties, first generation experiences & difficulties, survivors of childhood abuse, grief and loss. She also has experience in treating a myriad of mental health diagnosis, some of these including anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, PTSD, adjustment disorders.
Faith views therapy through an existential lens, in which she believes that every client possesses the power to create meaning in their lives. It is easy to get caught up in our stories, in our past experiences, and allow them to control our present lives.
