Faith Wood is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate*.
Supervised by Patricia Boylen, M.Ed., LPC-S .
Faith attended the University of North Texas where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Substance Use Disorder. Faith went on to complete her Master of Science in Counseling and Development at Texas Woman’s University. Faith has clinical experience in both individual and group therapy working with the homeless population at The Samaritan Inn as well as crisis counseling at Denton County Friends of the Family.
Faith takes a collaborative approach, believing that the client is essentially the architect of their life. Safety, trust, and authenticity from both the client and the therapist are what creates the therapeutic alliance. Faith believes that meeting every client where they are in their personal journey is important, and treats every client as an individual, appreciating and valuing their unique life experiences.
Faith incorporates mindfulness-based strategies when appropriate to help clients cope with somatic trauma responses that may be present. Additional interventions that may be utilized include helping identify negative thinking patterns, or patterns of behavior that no longer suit the client’s present environment and exploring and assigning meaning to past experiences the client has had. Every client’s journey to healing is different, therefore Faith works together with the client to implement treatment strategies that align with the client’s goals
Faith has experience working with clients who have histories of trauma, relationship difficulties, survivors of childhood abuse, those experiencing grief and loss, and has experience in treating a myriad of mental health diagnosis, some of these including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, substance use disorders, PTSD, psychosis, adjustment disorders and more. Additional clinical experience includes facilitating a children’s expressive arts group, and a process group for adults.
Faith views therapy through an existential lens, in which she believes that every client possesses the power to create meaning in their lives. It is easy to get caught up in our stories, in our past experiences, and allow them to control our present lives.
