Alyssa attended The University of Texas at Austin where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Applied Learning and Development with a minor in Educational Psychology and a concentration in Social Services. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Counseling at The University of North Texas. Alyssa has clinical experience in both individual and group therapy working with trauma survivors during her time at Lotus Counseling and Psychological Services.

Alyssa approaches therapy through a humanistic and goal-oriented perspective. She believes building a strong therapeutic relationship with a client is one of the most powerful tools in counseling. Her top priority is to create a collaborative, warm, friendly, and empathetic environment for her client and to ultimately become a part of their support system.

Alyssa views therapy through an Adlerian lens. Adlerian therapy allows her to focus on the development of an individual's personality, while also understanding and accepting the interconnectedness of all individuals. She incorporates encouragement to help clients learn how to recognize their strengths and gain confidence. Additional interventions that may be utilized include identifying mistaken beliefs from a client's past experiences. Alyssa has treated various clients with trauma, anxiety, depression, sexual assault, relationship conflicts, grief, life transitions, and more.

Alyssa believes in meeting clients where they are in their healing journey and offering support along the way in helping a client navigate their life.

Alyssa enjoys spending time with her family and friends in her free time. She also enjoys listening to music, attending concerts, scrapbooking, and drawing.

*A Licensed Professional Counselor Associate is a person who has completed their Master's Degree and is licensed in the State of Texas to provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The "associate" status designates that the license holder is within the first 3,000 hours of their clinical work experience and meets weekly with a Licensed Supervisor for clinical guidance and direction.
